What does this MOT check show?
The checker uses DVLA vehicle enquiry information to show the MOT status and expiry date returned for a registration. The vehicle make and colour help you check that the record matches your vehicle.

Is this MOT check free?
Yes. There is no payment or account requirement for this check. A Driver Account is optional and does not appear automatically when you check a registration.
Does this include MOT history and advisories?

Why is my vehicle not showing, or showing no details held?
Check the registration first. Missing information does not prove that a vehicle is exempt or has passed. If our lookup is unavailable or the result seems inconsistent, check GOV.UK before relying on it. Understand a missing MOT record (opens in a new tab)
How early can I get an MOT without changing the renewal date?
In Great Britain, you can usually test up to one month minus one day before expiry and retain the renewal date. Testing earlier changes it. Different rules apply when the previous MOT was in Northern Ireland and the next test is in Great Britain. Official early-testing rules (opens in a new tab)
What should I do if my MOT has expired?
Arrange a test and read the rules before moving the vehicle. Ordinary road use is not permitted with an expired MOT. Limited exceptions do not remove roadworthiness requirements. MOT expiry and driving (opens in a new tab)
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
Read the refusal document and discuss repairs and retesting with the garage. A dangerous defect means you must not drive the vehicle until it is repaired. An earlier certificate does not override a dangerous defect. MOT failures and retests (opens in a new tab)
Can I use an MOT check before buying a used car?

Does checking here save my vehicle or set up a reminder?
